Meet our owner and main instructor
Neto Gomes
Francisco “Neto” Gomes de Sousa, a 4th-degree IBJJF black belt, grew up in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and has been immersed in martial arts since his youth. Starting as a wrestler, he transitioned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at the age of 18, igniting a lifelong passion for the art. Over the years, Professor Neto has trained and competed on the global stage, representing BJJ in Brazil, Abu Dhabi, and the United States.
In 2000, Neto began training under the legendary Professor Osvaldo Alves, an IBJJF red belt, and eventually earned his black belt in 2008. A decorated competitor, he is a three-time world champion in both gi and no-gi competitions and has amassed numerous medals from prestigious tournaments worldwide.
During the 2000s, Neto developed a friendship with Renzo Gracie, one of BJJ’s most influential figures. More recently, he began discussions about affiliating with the Renzo Gracie Academy, a move that inspired him to establish his own school. With this venture, Professor Neto aims to continue sharing his passion for BJJ while building a community rooted in the Renzo Gracie tradition.
